Verify your business on Google with a video

Our Blog

Google Business Profile video verification is easier than it sounds. This process ensures you’re genuinely connected to the business. It’s perfect if you have a physical store, offer services without a shopfront or run a mix of both.

Before You Start

Your video should be a single, continuous recording – no edits or cuts, or professional videographers. Google just wants to see you, your business and where in the world your business operates. The video needs to be at least 30 seconds but no more than five minutes. You’ll record and upload it through your Google Business Profile using your mobile device. The reason it is done on a mobile device is geo locating

To record and upload your verification video, you’ll need to be logged into the Google account associated with your business. Start by opening your preferred web browser on your mobile device and navigating to your Google Business Profile.

Once there, tap on ‘Get verified’ and follow the prompts to begin recording. Ensure your device’s camera and microphone permissions are enabled, as these are necessary for recording directly through the platform. After recording, simply upload the video through the same interface, and Google will take it from there.

What to Include in Your Video

Depending on your business type, here’s what to capture for a Google Business Profile video verification:

For Service Area Businesses

  • Service Location: Highlight where you provide services, such as signs or landmarks in your service area.
  • Existence: Show branded equipment, marketing materials, or tools you use, like a van with your business name or employee uniforms.
  • Proof of Management: Record yourself offering a service or showing business documents like registration or invoices.

For Shopfront or Hybrid Businesses

  • Location: Show your business location on the street, including nearby landmarks, signs, or other recognisable features.
  • Existence: Capture your shop front or signage. The business name should match what’s on your Google Business Profile.
  • Proof of Management: Show that you manage the business by filming areas like employee-only spaces or your point-of-sale system.

Submitting Google Business Profile video verification

  1. Record and Upload: Go to your Business Profile on your mobile, tap ‘Get verified,’ then ‘Capture video.’ Follow the prompts to record and upload.
  2. Wait for Review: Google will review your video within five business days. If you’re verified, you’ll get a notification.

If your video doesn’t meet the requirements, you can re-record and try again, or explore other verification options.

Planning is key, so take your time to ensure your video shows everything Google needs to verify your business.
