Steps to Complete the Facebook Business Extension Flow on WordPress
Installation:
- From Your WordPress Site:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu, and click Add New.
- In the search field, type ‘Facebook for WordPress’ and click Search Plugins. Select the plugin authored by ‘Facebook’ and click Install Now.

- From Facebook Events Manager:
- Download and install the plugin directly from the Facebook Help Page or Events Manager.
Configure Plugin for First Use:
- Access the Plugin Settings:
- After installation, go to the settings page of the plugin.
- Click Get Started to initiate the Facebook Business Extension flow.
- Complete the Facebook Business Extension Flow:
- Login and Authorisation:
- Log in to your Facebook account.
- Select the appropriate Facebook Business Manager account if you manage multiple.
- Select Facebook Assets:
- Choose the Facebook Pixel, Ad Account, Catalogue, and Page you want to link to your WordPress site.
- Configure Settings:
- Review and configure event tracking settings, determining which actions on your site will be sent to Facebook.
- Grant Permissions:
- Grant the necessary permissions to Facebook, including sharing your access token with your WordPress site.
- Review and Confirm:
- Review all settings and confirm to complete the integration.
- Login and Authorisation:
- Enable Sending Events via Conversions API:
- After completing the flow, return to the plugin’s settings page.
- Under Meta Advanced Configuration, toggle the checkbox to enable sending website events to Meta using the Conversions API.
Required Access Levels on Facebook
- Admin Access to Facebook Business Manager:
- You must be an Admin of the Business Manager account that owns the assets you’re connecting to WordPress.
- Manage Pixel Permissions:
- You need Full Control or Standard Access with the ability to manage settings for the Facebook Pixel being linked.
- Manage Ad Account Permissions:
- You require Admin or Advertiser access to the associated Ad Account.
- Manage Catalogue Permissions (if applicable):
- Full Control over the product catalogue is necessary if connecting it through the plugin.
- Access to Facebook Page (if applicable):
- You need to be at least an Editor of any Facebook Page linked through the plugin.
- Conversions API Permissions:
- Ensure you have permissions to configure settings under the Meta Advanced Configuration in the plugin.
