What are Meta Feed Ads?
Meta Feed Ads are sponsored ads that appear within scrolling content feeds, most commonly Facebook Feed and Instagram Feed. They are one of the most familiar Meta ad experiences because they sit between the normal posts people are already browsing.
Where is it seen?
Feed placements can include eligible Facebook and Instagram feeds, with availability depending on the campaign objective, account and current Meta placement options. Broader campaigns may also use other placements at the same time.
What does it look like?
A Feed Ad is labelled as sponsored and can use formats such as a single image, video or carousel depending on the campaign and placement. It usually includes the advertiser identity, primary text and an action such as visiting a website, shopping, messaging or submitting a lead.
How does it work?
You choose the campaign objective, creative, destination, budget and audience inputs. Meta’s auction and delivery system then decides which eligible people and placements are most likely to produce the selected result.
With Advantage+ placements, Feed can be one of several surfaces Meta uses rather than a guaranteed exclusive placement.
Is it instant? How long does it take?
Feed ads can begin serving after the campaign and creative have been reviewed and are eligible. New campaigns still need time and enough delivery data before cost and conversion patterns become reliable.
Why can’t I see it?
You may not see your own ad because Meta does not reserve a Feed position for the advertiser. Audience eligibility, budget, auction conditions, frequency and delivery optimisation all influence whether a particular person sees it.
Who decides what appears?
You control the offer, creative, budget, destination and the audience or placement settings available in Ads Manager. Meta controls the auction and the final delivery decision for each eligible impression.
Is it paid or organic?
Feed Ads are paid placements and are labelled as advertising. They are separate from the unpaid reach of normal Facebook Page or Instagram account posts.
What does it cost?
Meta Feed Ads are bought through Meta’s ad auction rather than at a fixed cost per Feed position. Campaigns can be optimised toward outcomes such as traffic, leads, sales or other supported objectives, so the useful cost metric depends on the business goal.
How do you know if it is working?
Useful measures include reach, impressions, frequency, clicks, landing-page activity, leads, purchases, conversion value and cost per qualified result. For lead campaigns, downstream lead quality should be checked rather than treating every platform-reported lead as equally valuable.

Frequently asked questions
Can I run an ad only in Facebook Feed?
Manual placement controls may allow a narrower setup, but availability depends on the campaign and Meta’s current options. Meta generally encourages broader eligible placements when they support the objective.
Will my Feed Ad appear every time someone opens Facebook or Instagram?
No. Each eligible impression is subject to Meta’s delivery and auction systems, so a person may see the ad sometimes and not at others.
Is a boosted post the same as a Feed Ad?
A boosted post is a simplified way to promote existing content. Ads Manager provides broader campaign, targeting, placement, creative and measurement controls.
Do Feed Ads improve my organic reach?
Paid delivery can expose more people to the advertised content, but it does not buy a higher organic ranking for future unpaid posts.
